The Global Surfari isn’t very good on the environment, especially if it involves flying thousands of miles. So if you’ve got the spare cash give something back -

GreenSurf, a leader in promoting green surfing products and services and Carbonfund.org, the leading nonprofit provider of carbon offsets, have teamed up to provide the CarbonFree Surfing program; aimed at educating and empowering all surfers to take real steps to reduce their contribution to global warming and its effect it on the world’s oceans.

Global Surfari now has tide information, which can be extremely useful - my worse surf injury was mostly thanks to a low tide.

“High Tide wave of your life, Low Tide end of your life”.
Please note the tide times and especially take notice of the UTC offset to make sure the tide is in the right timezone for you. If the tide is especially important to your surf check other sources to verify times and heights.

From today, November 6th, British Airways will no longer take your surf board on their planes. You may have never flown BA but this sort of action may soon be duplicated around the world, ending the real world “Global Surfari”.
That doesn’t mean they won’t take them for free, it means they won’t take them at all. GlobalSurfari.com Facebook Surf Forecasts now contains a dedicated link to the Facebook Group and a banner similar to the one below has been place on rotation at globalsurfari.com.

Consider signing the BSA Petition at http://www.britsurf.co.uk/Releases/October2007/PR-25OCT07.htm
From the Facebook Group -
I just wanted to make sure that you are aware that British Airways is planning to ban surfboards on all its flights from 6 November.
http://www.britishairways.com/travel/bagsport/public/en_gb
We have heard unconfirmed reports that the reason for this is that the new baggage handling equipment at London Heathrow Terminal 5 is not designed to deal with large items.
We are extremely concerned that other carriers will follow BA’s lead.
I feel that the strongest argument against the ban will come from companies in the surf travel industry that depend on people being able to take their surfboards on holiday with them. We need to make airlines see that the simple act of banning surfboards on flights will have serious knock on consequences for people and communities that depend on surf tourism.
If you feel that this issue will affect you and your business, please make your feelings known to BA, and the local press and media in your area.
Contact BA by email:
